Day One of Chemotherapy

We headed to the hospital to pick up the chemotherapy drugs we ordered yesterday. My script for today reads as follows:

Cyclophosphamide 200mg
Idarubacin 20mg
Dexamethasone 40mg
Allopurinol 300mg
Kytril 2mg
Maxalon (as required)

The first two drugs listed are the cyto-toxic drugs and I only take that for the first few days of each cycle. The Dexamethasone is a steroid, and the others are to counter-act nausea or gout. A cycle goes for 21 days and I will have 4 of these cycles over the next 3 months.

I took the day off as I wasn’t sure how I would feel, but I haven’t really felt nauseous yet. So I have felt at a loose end all day. I need to get a hobby.

Bongiorno! Dont really know what to say Cam other than it is amazing to read your blog and the wonderful testament it is to our Fathers (not John and Al’s) faithfulness.

Praying for you and Eliz bro.

Suggestions for hobbies; Sudoku (know a very good player, and you wont get Alzhiemers), macrame, Ikibana, backgammon, quilting, marjong, but wait til we get home to play Settlers. Imagine 3 months worth of Settlers…

Hi Cam,
Colleen here, (Jane and Cathryn Ross’s mum). Just want you to know you are in my prayers. Found reading you blog so comforting and a real privilege. My favourite hobby (if you can call it that is listening to Radio National, 810 band on am. You can do it whilst doing anything else like trying to sleep!! beats those infomercials which I fell for once!!! So it’s a lot cheaper and they help you realise labour saving devices aren’t the answer.
The girls send their love to you and Jane does keep an eye on your blog.
