When you are young you may have imagined what it would be like to be an adult. I really only projected to the age of 26 because it would be the year 2000 and then imagined what I would be like when I was an old man. I didn’t really spend a great deal of time thinking about where I would be anywhere in between. I certainly did not imagine I would be here.

But alas, now I am here – somewhere between 26 and old, reaching the age of 34 today. There is no doubt that this birthday is happy. Thanks to you all for being a part of my life and this journey.

My grandfather used to say that you should live every day to its fullest – no matter the circumstances.

A wise man was my pa. Cam you are 34 years young but seem to have the knowledge and wisdom of someone much older.

Live each day, laugh each day, love each day.

Happy Birthday and many more.

Health & Happiness

Hey Cam,

I saw the date on the parking meter today and thought “Hey it’s Cam’s birthday today!”. Happy Birthday man!

My wife and I are visiting WA for 3 1/2 days from 5 April. We’d love to catch up with you and Elizabeth sometime.

Hope your day today is one of the best!

Kindest regards,

Happy Birthday Cam, hope you have good things planned for today . I think its time you took video of you at the gym for your blog – Rubbing shoulders with the elite, posing with weights etc. etc.
You’re such a blessing to us all Cam…….love from the Wilsons

Happy Birthday Cam!! I never really thought much about birthdays until i had a baby, and now I think they are such a blessed occasion so I hope you have a really great day. I will be flying over your house at about 6.10pm so I will send you a birthday kiss from above. And remember that although this is not exactly where you would have thought you would have been on your 34th birthday, you are in a far better position than where you were on your 33rd birthday, so this really is a special occasion! mwah

Happy Birthday, Cam. We trust you have had a great day.
Best wishes for this next year – I reckon mid-thirties are a fantastic time of life – not even half way to being that old man you envisaged.

Love & special birthday blessings,

Aunty Olga

Here we are at the end of the day, all together with Claire, Carlene and children and Stuart. We remembered that it was your 34th birthday
We’ve come to know you more through your blog and it’s been terrific and we’re very interested in it. Thank you for that. Love Olga and Frank.

Hi Cameron, I’ve just started reading your blog recently, and it certainly makes me think more reflectively on life rather than just what we might be having for dinner that night. Happy birthday for today also. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. love Carlene and family.

Hello Cam.
Hope you’ve been feeling well enough to enjoy a bit of cake today. Happy Birthday too, from us. Claire n family

When I was in year 5, I figured that I wouldn’t need birthdays past 27 (Y2K) cos the world would blow up and, well, that would be about it.

When you have a radically insane idea like that, it makes every birthday thereafter just that little bit more special… that the world didn’t blow up yet, that my arteries still pass more blood than chip-fat and that no-one hates me enough to shoot me (fatally).

So – with that in mind, I choose to wish you a happy Birthday. As you are older than 26, it is significant and should be celebrated with muchous cake!!

Blow a candle and make a wish (oh, apparently these days, you gotta:
shut your eyes
don’t touch the bottom
don’t tell anyone your wish
when you do hit the bottom (considering rule 2) you gotta scream like a girl
Don’t stab yourself with the knife when everyone else screams like a girl
scrunch up your nose and snort like a wildebeast.
And… no, I think that’s about it.

Time for more cake!!

Happy Birthday Cam. Yeah, I never thought past year 2000 either. As we discussed endlessly aged 5-10, I’m still waiting for the cops to come up to me and say “Mate, we need your skills for a big case we’re trying to solve. You’ll have to go undercover for us. Here’s a gun.” Until then, I guess it’s plan B.

Don’t know where this came from, bit of trite trivia (like what you get inside a birthday card…)

1. Throw out nonessential numbers.
This includes age, weight, and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.

2. Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down. (Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning:
Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever.
Never let the brain get idle. “An idle mind is the enemy’s workshop.” And the enemy’s name is Alzheimer’s!

4. Enjoy the simple things

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with him or her!

6. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourself. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:
Whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don’t take guilt trips.
Take a trip to the mall, even to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

I never planned much past 26 either.
At 16 your “legal” (I’m still not sure what that ment).
At 18 you’re an adult.
At 21 you’re still an adult but this time you have a giant novelty key.
At 25 your insurance premiums drop.
So 26 is the beginning of being old… Spewing it was nearly 8 years ago!
